ABOUT THE ROLE
The Junior Demand Analyst is responsible for the data and statistical foundation of the forecasting process for the products and distributed brands of assigned markets. You’ll extract, cleanse, and maintain demand data, build and run statistical forecast models, and help develop the forecasting approach and baseline forecast used by the Demand Planning team. This role turns large data sets into accurate, well-documented baselines and insights.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Extract, cleanse, validate, and maintain historical sales, shipment, order, inventory, and product master data from the ERP and other databases to create a reliable, single source of demand history
- Build and maintain data tables, queries, and data models (e.g., SQL, Power Query) that feed the forecasting process; monitor data quality and resolve gaps, outliers, and inconsistencies
- Cleanse demand history for anomalies such as stock-outs, promotions, one-time orders, and product transitions to establish a clean baseline
- Run and maintain the statistical baseline forecast at multiple levels of aggregation (SKU, product family, brand, customer, market) across various time horizons
- Help develop and document the forecasting approach, including item segmentation (e.g., ABC/XYZ, lifecycle, seasonality) and selection of appropriate statistical methods such as moving averages, exponential smoothing, seasonal, and regression models
- Track forecast accuracy and bias (e.g., MAPE) and recommend improvements as experience grows
- Analyze historical trends, seasonality, and demand drivers; investigate significant variances between forecast and actuals and share findings with the Demand Planning team
- Provide the statistical baseline and supporting analysis to Demand Planners, who layer in sales, marketing, and customer intelligence to reach the consensus forecast
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards (Excel, Power BI) on forecast performance, demand trends, and data health for the Demand Planning team and S&OP
- Support continuous improvement of data processes, automation, and forecasting practices within Demand Planning and S&OP
