Summary
Join Providence Health Care as a Surgical LPN working in Endoscopy and be part of an interdisciplinary team committed to providing compassionate, client- and family-centred care.
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager or Resident Care Manager, you’ll provide nursing care to an assigned group of patients or residents while practicing to your full scope in accordance with the Standards of Practice established by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). As an independent practitioner, you’ll use your clinical judgment to assess needs, establish care priorities, implement and evaluate interventions, and recognize when changes in acuity or complexity require collaboration with an RN/RPN or other members of the care team.
In this role, you’ll support the physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs of patients and residents while involving them and their families in decisions about their care. You’ll conduct assessments, administer medications and treatments, monitor and document changes in condition, contribute to individualized care and discharge planning, and advocate for patients and residents throughout their care journey.
Working closely with the interdisciplinary team, you’ll participate in care conferences and team meetings, communicate important changes and concerns, and help ensure care remains coordinated, responsive, and aligned with each patient or resident’s individual needs, preferences, and goals. You’ll also support the orientation of new staff and students, respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies, and contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, and colleagues.
This is an opportunity to practice to your full scope as an LPN while building meaningful relationships and contributing to high-quality, person-centred care at Providence Health Care.
Please Note: This is a temporary position with an end date of July 3rd, 2028.
Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratio
Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) set the minimum number of nurses required to safely care for patients on a given unit. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses' Union (BCNU), and health organizations across British Columbia, mNPR provides a consistent and transparent approach to staffing that supports safe nursing practice and high-quality patient care. At Providence Health Care (PHC), our approach to implementing mNPR reflects our commitment to person-centred, socially just, compassionate care and our dedication to Indigenous cultural safety. Guided by our mission and values - Spirituality, Integrity, Stewardship, Trust, Excellence, and Respect - PHC is working collaboratively across all departments to ensure mNPR is thoughtfully adapted to the unique needs of each clinical program and specialty area. This tailored, values-driven implementation aligns with our commitment to compassionate, innovative, and patient-centred care and positions PHC to meet the evolving health needs of our patients, residents, families, and communities.
