North Vancouver, BC
$160,000 – $180,000 base + 20% short-term incentive plan
Day shift (6:30 am – 2:30 pm)
Our client located on the Vancouver waterfront is adding a Maintenance Manager to support its continued growth. This is a hands-on leadership role in a flat, empowered organization with very little red tape. You’ll work alongside a close-knit team using new equipment and technology.
What you’ll do
- Lead the full maintenance crew, including millwrights and electricians, as well as the contractors on site
- Plan and assign daily work, starting each morning with a debrief from the night crew and the 24/7 operations team
- Oversee contractor work across rail, elevators, HVAC, plumbing and fabrication
- Manage permits and safe work practices, including hot work, working at heights and confined space
- Handle the administrative side of maintenance: purchasing, receiving and vendor management
- Support labour relations for the hourly workforce, including interviews and discipline
- Work with regulators such as Technical Safety BC (pressure vessels and boilers) and the Canadian Grain Commission
- Use a mobile CMMS on tablets and smartphones, with no paper work orders
What you bring
- A strong mechanical background as a Millwright, Mechanical Technologist or Mechanical Engineer, with hands-on industrial maintenance experience
- Supervisory or management experience in an industrial setting such as pulp and paper, heavy industry, process plants or port terminals
- Comfort leading a mixed crew of trades and contractors
- Confidence making decisions independently and taking on the admin that comes with the role
- Clear, professional communication with regulators, contractors and your team
- A collaborative, team-first approach to leading people
- Engineers: you must have hands-on plant maintenance experience. This is not a project or design role.
Nice to have
- Experience with permit systems, contractor management and regulated equipment such as pressure vessels and boilers
- Experience in a unionized environment, with a balanced, constructive approach to labour relations
What’s on offer
- $160,000 – $180,000 base salary plus a 20% short-term incentive plan
- A day-shift schedule with no rotating shifts
- A brand-new facility and modern technology
- A flat, empowered team where you can make change happen quickly
- Broad, varied work across maintenance leadership, contractors, regulators and purchasing
