Position SummaryWesgar is seeking a
Process and Data Analyst with professional experience turning operational and business data into clear findings and practical recommendations.
The primary focus of this role is hands-on data analysis: combining information from multiple sources, checking its reliability, investigating performance differences, and identifying the factors behind delays, inefficiencies, and recurring issues. You will work independently with confidential production, inventory, labour, cost, and other business information to support operational decisions.
You will collaborate with operators, supervisors, and other departments to understand the context behind the numbers and validate your conclusions. Shop-floor observation and occasional workflow documentation will support your analysis, with process redesign and implementation forming a secondary part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
Data Preparation, Validation & Investigation
- Extract, combine, clean, and organize operational data from ERP systems, spreadsheets, and other business sources.
- Work with large datasets containing production, job, inventory, purchasing, labour, quality, and shipment records.
- Identify and resolve missing records, duplicates, inconsistent units, incorrect classifications, and other issues that could distort results.
- Reconcile information across systems and trace discrepancies to their source.
- Document data definitions, calculation methods, assumptions, and limitations so analyses can be understood and repeated.
Operational Data Analysis
- Investigate trends, anomalies, recurring issues, and performance differences across jobs, products, departments, equipment, and time periods.
- Analyze measures such as lead time, throughput, downtime, labour utilization, rework, inventory movement, and delivery performance.
- Account for differences in product complexity, job mix, volumes, and operating conditions when comparing performance.
- Break down broad performance measures to identify where problems are concentrated and which factors may explain them.
- Use appropriate analytical methods to test explanations and distinguish meaningful patterns from misleading comparisons or incomplete data.
- Translate findings into clear conclusions, practical recommendations, and priorities for further investigation.
- Evaluate the impact of operational changes using appropriate baselines, comparisons, and follow-up measures.
Reporting & Analytical Tools
- Develop and maintain Excel models, dashboards, reports, and repeatable analytical tools.
- Define and validate KPIs with stakeholders, ensuring calculations are consistent and reflect the operational question being measured.
- Automate recurring data preparation and reporting where practical.
- Present findings clearly, explaining the supporting evidence, business implications, and any remaining uncertainty.
Operational Collaboration
- Work with production, warehouse, and other teams to understand business questions, source data, and operating conditions.
- Observe relevant activities on the shop floor when needed to investigate discrepancies or validate analytical findings.
- Support process-improvement projects by providing analysis, measurement, and occasional workflow documentation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional experience in a data-analysis role, with direct responsibility for preparing, validating, analyzing, and interpreting business or operational datasets. Relevant experience may come from operations, supply chain, logistics, inventory, retail, manufacturing, or another business environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline. Other educational backgrounds may be considered with directly relevant analytical experience.
- Demonstrated experience taking an analysis from an initial business question through data preparation, investigation, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience combining and manipulating datasets using tools such as Power Query, PivotTables, lookup functions, and conditional calculations.
- Experience validating data, reconciling multiple sources, and investigating discrepancies before relying on results.
- Ability to explain specific findings from previous analyses and how those findings informed a business or operational decision.
- Understanding of analytical concepts such as rates, weighted averages, variation, forecasting error, and the limitations of comparisons across different groups or time periods.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly to people with different levels of technical knowledge.
- Comfortable working independently with detailed data and asking operational teams questions to clarify or challenge assumptions.
- Strong attention to accuracy and appropriate handling of confidential business information.
- Comfortable working on-site and visiting production and warehouse areas as needed.
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for travel between our Port Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Applied experience using SQL to extract, join, aggregate, and investigate data.
- Experience with Power BI, Python, or similar analytical tools.
- Experience working with ERP, inventory, warehouse, or other transactional business systems.
- Experience analyzing demand, inventory, labour, costs, service levels, or production performance.
- Familiarity with process improvement, root cause analysis, or workflow documentation.
