Our client, a leading civil construction contractor in Langley, specializes in excavation, shoring, and other complex civil construction projects. They are seeking a Senior Estimator to work closely with the Chief Estimator, support major project pursuits, and help strengthen the estimating team as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead estimates for excavation and shoring projects, from initial review through bid submission.
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify project scope, risks, and requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Develop pricing for labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project-specific requirements.
- Solicit, review, and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with project teams and operations to validate assumptions, construction methods, schedules, and costs.
- Work closely with the Chief Estimator on bid strategy, pricing decisions, and pursuit planning.
- Help manage the estimating process and provide guidance to junior estimators.
- Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Support the transition of awarded projects to the operations team.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- At least 4 years of estimating experience in civil construction, with a strong background in excavation and shoring.
- Experience pricing projects involving deep excavations, earth retention systems, and related civil work.
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical information.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools.
- Strong understanding of construction costs, labour productivity, equipment requirements, and subcontractor pricing.
- Experience coordinating bids and working with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to support the Chief Estimator while helping develop the estimating team.
