Axia-Search are seeking a highly experienced, diligent, and strategically minded Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (AMLCO). To serve as the designated compliance lead for one of our clients in Canada who are registered with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC).
You will be officially named to FINTRAC as the individual responsible for designing,
implementing, and overseeing our local Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist
Financing (AML/CTF) Compliance Program.
Program Oversight & Governance
- Design & Maintenance: Develop, update, and enforce the entity’s AML/CTF Compliance
Policies, Procedures, and Risk Assessment Framework to align with FINTRAC regulations
and evolving CSA guidelines.
- Official Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for FINTRAC, provincial regulators
(e.g., OSC), law enforcement, and financial institution partners (banks, PSPs, and fiat
rails).
Transaction Monitoring & Regulatory Reporting
- FINTRAC Submissions: Timely and accurately review, log, and submit all required reports
to FINTRAC, including: Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), Large Virtual Currency Transaction Reports (LVCTRs) ($\ge \$10,000$ CAD), Terrorist Property Reports (TPRs).
KYC, KYB & Sanctions Compliance
- Oversee Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for Politically
Exposed Persons (PEPs) / Heads of International Organizations (HIOs), and Know-YourBusiness (KYB) for corporate onboarding.
Requirements:
- Must be a Canadian resident (mandatory for regulatory interactions and banking relationship management).
- Direct Experience: Minimum 3–5+ years of direct experience in an AML/Compliance
- capacity within a Canadian FINTRAC-registered MSB, Bank, Fintech, or Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP).
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or CFCS (Certified Financial Crime Specialist) designation is preferred.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of the PCMLTFA, FINTRAC guidance,
travel rule compliance, and Canadian sanctions law (SEMA).
- Crypto / Web3 Familiarity: Solid understanding of digital asset ecosystems,
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
