Chief Financial Officer (Construction & Manufacturing)
Vancouver / Greater Vancouver | Full-time, permanent | Mainly in-office with some hybrid flexibility
Base salary: $200,000
The opportunity
Our client is a growth-stage industrialized construction company scaling into manufacturing, and they're hiring their first true CFO. You'll report to the CEO/MD, partner closely with the executive team and Board.
You'll own the full financial engine: FP&A, controllership, accounting, treasury and cash, capital raising, investor and shareholder relationships, and government grants. You'll also stand up the team, systems and controls the business needs to scale. You'll start lean and hands-on, in a true partnership with the CEO/MD that forms the basis of a succession plan within 24 months.
Your mandate
- Build and secure the company's short-to-medium-term capital platform behind its 3-year plan, personally owning the capital investment plan
- Work hand-in-hand with the CEO/MD across strategy, execution and delivery, including the ramp-up of new manufacturing and production facilities
What you'll do
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, multi-year forecasting and the long-range model across all divisions
- Run fundraising end to end: financial model, investor materials, data room and diligence, and manage investor, lender and shareholder relationships so the company always has runway
- Lead the government grants and incentives strategy, including cost tracking, claims, reporting and compliance
- Oversee accounting (currently outsourced) and ensure accurate, timely, GAAP-compliant reporting
- Build models for pricing, gross-margin evolution, capacity investment and scenario planning
- Define the KPIs and dashboards that hold the business to plan
- Prepare and present Board and investor reporting
- Design, hire and scale the finance team, and help build out other functions as the company grows
What you bring
- Direct experience in construction/architectural, manufacturing or industrial operations, with a working understanding of supply chain, inventory management and gross-margin drivers (must-have)
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years in a senior finance leadership role (VP Finance, Finance Director or CFO) in a growth organization
- Track record of leading, raising and securing capital investment, managing investor, lender and shareholder relationships, and financing transactions
- Hands-on experience securing and administering government grants and incentive programs
- Proven experience building and scaling a business from growth stage
- Strong FP&A and financial modelling expertise; able to build and own complex models independently
- Strong accounting and controllership grounding, including cash-flow management, month/quarter/year-end close, and audit
- Demonstrated experience with project-based / contract cost accounting
- Experience in a growth-stage, venture- or institutionally-backed company that scaled through a financing and a manufacturing ramp
- Exposure to international / multi-geographical operations and overseas customers
- CPA designation (or equivalent)
- CFA, MBA or equivalent strategic-finance credential
