Director, Capital Construction Project Management – Commercial (Food Retail / Plants / Restaurants Modification / Retrofits)– (Cantonese / Mandarin – preferred)

Our client is a well-established importer / retailer / distributor of Oriental Foods (temperature controlled – Fresh Frozen & Ambient). As part of their growth and expansion plans to open new retail stores/ restaurants / grocery outlets, they have an existing job open for Director, Capital Construction Project Management to lead multiple projects preconstruction, fit outs & construction of new upcoming store / retail units. This role is fully responsible for leading a team during pre-construction assessments in existing building, creating technical specifications of equipment, estimation, liaison and negotiation with landlords and assist in selection with subcontractors (architects, electrical mechanical multi -trade GCs) to develop budgets, provide feasibility reports to senior leadership, manage all approvals, lease permits and hand over the project scope to the construction teams. This is 5 days on site, less than 20% travel across Canada. The job can be based in Toronto, ON or Vancouver, BC. Cantonese / Mandarin is an asset.
Director, Capital Construction Project Management will lead the technical due diligence and the feasibility assessments of existing buildings to convert to future prospective retail stores / restaurants / grocery stores including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and similar, oversee technical requirements, identify infrastructure upgrades required to convert existing commercial properties, develop preliminary CAPEX estimates, project budgets, engineering scopes and business cases for investment approvals. You will oversee architects / interior designers / GC to review proposed store layouts, equipment, specifications and building constraints fit ups with property landlords, ensure city / municipalities permits and approvals are in place and prepare the technical tender packages. This is a leadership role
