Key Accountabilities
- Lead, coach, and support a team of personal lines underwriters, providing guidance on risk selection, coverage, and broker communication.
- Manage daily workload distribution, priorities, and turnaround times to meet service and production targets.
- Underwrite complex and escalated risks within your authority level and act as the first point of referral for the team.
- Serve as an escalation point for broker concerns, resolving issues quickly and strengthening key relationships.
- Support onboarding and training of new underwriters in partnership with management.
- Monitor file quality and underwriting compliance and share trends and insights with management.
- Identify and drive process and technology improvements.
- Champion Forward's culture, values, and brand promise.
Qualifications
- 6–8 years in the personal lines insurance industry, including strong underwriting experience.
- 1–2 years in a team lead, supervisory, mentoring, or training role.
- CAIB, CIP, or CPIU designation required; [FCIP or equivalent an asset].
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coach, give constructive feedback, and build rapport with brokers and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office and comfort learning new underwriting platforms; tech-savvy is essential in our environment.
- Collaborative, inclusive, and transparent leadership style.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check.
Salary Range: CAD $75,000-$90,000
