Job Overview
We are looking for an engaged and enthusiastic intermediate level Structural Designer Drafter to join our team. The chosen candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in the tools and techniques required for designing and drafting in the civil and structural engineering disciplines in support of maritime and transportation infrastructure projects. Westmar Advisors works with a comprehensive suite of drafting and GIS tools including AutoCad, Revit, ESRI GIS, and Civil3D. This role will benefit from experience with or exposure to GIS and 3D structural software as well as experience with cloud workflows and data manipulation. Experience in applying digital technology to improve workflows will be an asset.
Technical Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Manager, Design and Drafting and in collaboration with senior engineering resources, contribute to the design and drafting of structures and civil works for maritime, civil, and industrial infrastructure. These will range from structural components through to layouts of entire terminals in support of planning, feasibility studies, detailed design, and construction.
- Support the creation of clear, complete, and accurate designs, drawings and drawing packages.
- Assist in the preparation of quantity take-offs in support of capital cost estimates.
Opportunities
- Utilize ArcGIS and associated applications to support engineering and advisory projects.
Requirements
- Relevant drafting and design diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary technical college or institution.
- 5 years or more of direct experience in structural/civil drafting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with engineering drafting workflows.
- Functional knowledge of Revit.
- Able to work from the Westmar Burnaby office.
Assets
- Expertise and experience in Revit.
- Experience with Civil3D, and ArcGIS.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with existing and potential clients.
- Strong communications skills, including proficiency in technical writing.
