What are the 2026 single-family water and sewer charges?

What are the cart charges and annual totals?
A 120-litre garbage cart costs $287, producing a $1,661 total. A 240-litre cart costs $379, total $1,753. A 360-litre cart costs $534, total $1,908. The size of the green cart does not change this fee; cart exchanges have their own process.

Suites and waste-service eligibility
What do apartments, townhouses and mobile-home units pay?
The page lists $427 water plus $661 sewer, total $1,088 for each dwelling unit in these categories. They do not pay the city garbage fee because city garbage and green-waste collection is not provided. A strata’s private waste arrangement is separate.

What extra charges apply to a secondary suite?
The annual utility page lists $285 for secondary-suite water and $264 for sewer. Contact the city at 604-927-3441 about suite charges. Do not assume a primary dwelling’s annual total includes every charge that applies to a property with a suite.

Which services are covered by the garbage fee?
It covers household garbage and green collection, eligible large-item pickups, six-week seasonal yard-trimming programs, cart maintenance and qualifying free green-waste drop-off. Curbside recycling is a separate Recycle BC service. The garbage-fee eligibility matters when requesting city collection programs.

Online, bank and in-person payments
What numbers are needed for online payment?
Use the five-digit utility account number and six-digit access code from the top of the bill. The online portal accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express or supported Interac Online banking. Debit and credit-card utility payments are not accepted by telephone.
How do I pay through my bank or by cheque?
For internet banking, choose Coquitlam Utilities and the five-digit account number. The city advises completing the transaction two to three days before the deadline. Cheques can be mailed to City Hall or placed in the secure drop boxes; keep confirmation or the stamped bill.
Where are the cheque drop boxes and payment counter?
City Hall at 3000 Guildford Way and Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex at 633 Poirier Street have 24-hour cheque drop boxes. Do not deposit cash. The City Hall Revenue counter opens weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the page for the exact entrances.
Does this annual process apply to metered customers too?
Metered customers receive quarterly bills, so follow the account’s actual bill and due date. A residential annual-rate table should not be used to calculate a metered business bill. The utility payment page also links an instalment plan for eligible accounts.
