Established locations and general duties

Which established off-leash locations does the city name?

Bramble, Glen, Leigh, Miller, Mundy and Ridge parks appear in the city’s named list. Use the designated dog area or signed trail within each park. A park name on the list does not make every sports field, lake edge or neighbouring path off-leash.

What are the general leash and owner duties?

Dogs must be leashed except in signed off-leash areas and times. Owners remain responsible for behaviour, must keep control and must not let dogs disturb wildlife or sensitive habitat. Clean up waste, dispose of it properly and keep the dog’s city licence current.

What should I know before going to Glen Park?

Relocation and upgrades are planned; the page says the existing area stays open until replacement is complete.

Which rules apply at Miller and Ridge parks?

Miller’s off-leash area is on the east side of the park; dogs must not enter ravines, watercourses or sports fields. Ridge has a signed off-leash trail area and prohibits dogs from entering watercourses. The city lists dawn-to-dusk use for these locations.

Construction, behaviour and licensing

When can a dog be off-leash on Mundy’s forest trails?

Most trails allow off-leash dogs from dawn until 10 a.m. Some signed trails allow it until dusk. Dogs are prohibited on the trails to Mundy Lake, while the Community Path always requires a leash. Dogs must stay on trails and not chase wildlife.

Is Brookmere Park’s planned dog area confirmed open?

The current dog-area page says construction begins in summer 2026. It does not confirm an opening date. This directory therefore treats Brookmere as a project to check, not a seventh established operating dog area based only on an approval announcement.

Can an aggressive dog use the off-leash area?

The city prohibits dogs defined as aggressive or vicious under its animal-control bylaw from off-leash use. Owners should also avoid food and toys in the off-leash space when other dogs are present, maintain control and fill holes their dogs dig.

Which dog licensing rule should I check before visiting?

Dogs older than six months need a Coquitlam licence each year, expiring December 31. A designated off-leash space does not remove that requirement. Contact the Animal Shelter at 604-927-7387 about licensing records or a missing account code.
